Sometimes inspiration doesn't come to you and you need help finding other recipes to make. With our mobiles and tablet devices in our hand every minute of the day, apps are one of the easiest ways of finding new ideas and bakes to try out. Below are five of my favourite apps that I use.

(Note to reader - all of these apps are free and have been found through the ITunes app store. I am unsure if these are available on Android but you'll probably be able to find them. There are also paid apps out there which you can can also get but I decided just to download free ones.)

1) The Great British Bake Off: Step by Step Better Baking

Really simple, clear and well laid out step by step instructions for making cakes, biscuits, bread and lots of other bakes. Great addition for those who, like myself, are fans of the TV show of the same name. Each recipe has a difficulty rating and within the app there is an in-app camera, a personalised shopping list, a notepad and timers.

Whilst this is a really good app for starting out as a baker, once you download the app you only get a specific starting number of recipes and have to purchase within the app if you want to use more recipes.

2) BBC Good Food

Again, really simple and clear recipes but for both cooking and baking. Recipes batched up by ingredient. Twenty free recipes are offered which is enough for those who are starting out. You have to pay in app for additional recipes and tips.

3) Tasty Recipes Mania

Tasty is a tie in of the online website Buzzfeed. The app is recipes and lists of recipes that can be seen on Buzzfeed's website and their social media pages. Lots of usual recipes for both cooking and baking from all around the world. Ny using the app on a daily basi, you get access to more recipes. You are also able to set favourite foods and save recipes.

4) Brilliant Baking Magazine

This app is more of a digital magazine and can be read like one by swiping through each page. Monthly issues. Connects you to expert bakers home bakers from around the world. Recipes, videos, interviews and news. Subscription payment both for just one issue or a monthly plan that will be automatically renewed until cancelled.

5) Delicious Magazine UK

Again, this is the digital application version of a traditional magazine. It also has a website and social media sites with their content on. Can be read by swiping through the pages. Lots of recipes for both cooking and baking. Ideas for food ingredients, food and drink pairings, travel hotspots for foodies, behind the scenes stories, interviews and campaigns. Monthly issues. Paid subscription for new issues, back issues and future issues. Gives option of six month or 12 month subscription.Renews automatically unless cancelled 24 hours before new issue is released.

What are your favourite apps that help you to bake?
